2011 Sneak Peeks

The All New Chrysler 300C SRT8

We may have fallen all over the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 that debuted this past February at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, but if we're honest, The Pentastar's latest LX-platform creation, the 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 , is the one we'd want to take home. In its previous generation, this car was one of our favorite guilty pleasures, and with all of the new enhancements made for the 2012 model year, the top-rung Hemi 300 is sure to impress.

Gone is the 6.1-liter V8 of yore, and a new, fire-breathing 6.4-liter Hemi engine has been fitted underhood. With 465 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque on tap, the 300 SRT8 will easily sprint to 60 miles per hour in under five seconds, and all that grunt is managed by a five-speed automatic transmission, now enhanced with paddle shifters. Not the most modern transmission, yes, but we're sure the 300 SRT8 will still be a total hoot to drive.

The 2012 300 SRT8 has made its debut this week at the 2011 New York Auto Show next to its Grand Cherokee SRT8 cousin, and we invite you to click through a handful of high-res images live from the Javits Center HERE . Thanks to the AutoBlog for this great article.

2011 Dodge Grand Caravan!

The Dodge Grand Caravan is the indisputable forefather of the minivan as we know it, and for 2011 it's rising like a Phoenix from the ashes to usher in a new generation of cutting-edge people movers. The 3.3L, 3.8L, and the 4.0L V6 engine options offered in the previous model years have been sent to the glue factory, replaced by Dodge's newest bomber: the 3.6L Pentastar V6. Mated to a smooth-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission, the new Pentastar punches in at 283-horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque and easily outpaces the celebrated 3.8L V6 of yore.

As a symbol of the revival under the redesigned hood, the 2011 Grand Caravan's front fascia has been revised to feature Dodge's new signature split crosshair grille and aggressively sculpted headlights. The assertive styling cues are continued by Dodge's new "ring of fire" LED taillights and a ride height now skulking 12 millimeters closer to the ground. Inside, Dodge's new design direction is even more apparent thanks to completely redesigned soft-to-the-touch surfaces and a bold, futuristic instrument cluster.

Safety, style, and sensationalism are the three core values we sought to integrate into the new Grand Caravan, and we think we were pretty darn successful.

2011 Dodge Durango
Wait, the Dodge Durango is still around? That's what we thought too and despite Dodge's press images looking like something straight off of DUB magazine's cover, we find ourselves oddly attracted to the taut new 2011 Dodge Durango. Perhaps, this is the Durango to overcome the stigma of its gas-guzzling-pig of a predecessor. With a new, surprisingly handsome, design on a unibody platform, the new Durango will come equipped with either a 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 or a stump-pulling 5.7 liter V8 (with four-cylinder mode), both mated to an all-wheel drive drivetrain. That's 6,200 lbs and 7,400 lbs towing capacity for you tow-mavens. An all-new interior designed by the same folks behind the new Jeep Grand Cherokee's gives 22 different seating configurations for its 3-row seating and a bevy of new features like an arsenal of airbags, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross path detection, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, keyless-go, and a reported 500 mile cruising distance. That's San Diego to San Francisco in one-run, gents.
